Meet the outstanding scholars at Tianjin University who are pushing the boundaries of knowledge, advancing scientific innovation and addressing global challenges. Discover their research, achievements and the minds behind their discoveries.

How can electrochemical technologies pave the way for a cleaner, more sustainable energy future?

Meet Yachao Zeng, Professor at Tianjin University's School of Chemical Engineering and Technology. His research focuses on electrochemical energy conversion and storage, including CO(2) electrolyzers, fuel cells, water electrolyzers and advanced electrocatalysis. By developing high-performance electrocatalysts, electrodes and electrochemical systems, he is working to overcome critical durability challenges and improve the efficiency and reliability of clean energy technologies.

He has published more than 50 scientific papers in leading journals, including Nature Energy, Nature Catalysis and the Journal of the American Chemical Society, with over 5,000 citations. He also holds 14 granted invention patents and has conducted postdoctoral research at universities in Australia and the United States.

His Scholar's View: At Tianjin University, I am not just exploring electrocatalysis. I am part of the Energy & Catalysis Adventure to pioneer innovative electrochemical solutions and accelerate the development of a clean, sustainable hydrogen-powered future for China and the world.
