TJU Wins National Second Prize at 2026 World Bridge Design Competition

Tianjin University (TJU) has secured a National Second Prize at the Grand Finals of the 2026 World University Students’ Bridge Design Competition, highlighting the university's commitment to interdisciplinary education and engineering innovation.

A joint team comprising students from the School of Architecture and the School of Civil Engineering was formed to tackle the competition's specific design challenge: creating a pedestrian bridge for a tropical island resort.

The team consisted of architecture students Li Zhejia, Sun Xinyu, Chen Kexin, and Li Xiaohan, alongside civil engineering student Xing De. The project was jointly mentored by Professor Yang Wei from the School of Architecture and Professor Zhu Jinsong from the School of Civil Engineering.

During the preparation phase, the faculty and students fully leveraged the synergistic advantages of combining architecture and civil engineering. The team engaged in in-depth discussions and collaborative design, focusing on key aspects such as the bridge's conceptual creativity, spatial experience, structural design, and practical engineering implementation.
