From Chips to AI: Professor Yeo Kiat Seng Joins the 2026 Overseas Academicians Exchange Conference

From April 17 to 20, 2026, the 2026 Overseas Academicians Exchange Conference and the 2nd Annual Conference of the Global Association of Overseas Chinese Scholars (GAOCS) was successfully held in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province. The conference was hosted by GAOCS, organized by the Eastern Institute of Technology (EIT) and the EIT Industrial Technology Research Institute, and co-organized by Gaocesi (Ningbo) Technology Industry Development Co., Ltd. The event brought together leading academicians, experts, and research scholars from around the world to discuss cutting-edge technological innovation and future development trends.

Professor Yeo Kiat Seng, Chair Professor at the School of Microelectronics, Fellow of the Singapore National Academy of Science, Fellow of the Academy of Engineering Singapore, and Foreign Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering, was invited to attend the conference. On April 18, he delivered a keynote report titled “Navigating the AI Era: Future Jobs and Research”. During the roundtable discussion on “AI and Future Engineering Applications”, Professor Yeo joined fellow academicians including Professor Yu Aibing and Professor Jin Qun as a key panelist. Together, they engaged in in-depth discussions on innovative applications of AI in engineering, interdisciplinary research, and challenges in industrial deployment. Drawing on his own research experience at the intersection of integrated circuits and AI, Professor Yeo shared insights into emerging technological trends and industry-academia collaboration, offering valuable perspectives for advancing high-quality AI applications in engineering.
