Tianjin University Students Achieve Honors at 7th International Student Olympiad on Mechanism and Machine Science

The Students International Olympiad on Mechanism and Machine Science, initiated and organized by the International Federation for the Promotion of Mechanism and Machine Science (IFToMM), is a highly influential competition for university students in the field of mechanism and machine science. The Olympiad aims to inspire students worldwide to deepen their research interest in mechanism and machine science, strengthen their foundational knowledge of mechanical principles and engineering application skills, while also providing a platform for international academic exchange among young scholars in mechanical engineering. The 7th edition of the Olympiad was successfully held from April 15 to 18, 2026, at Shandong University (Weihai), attracting 14 teams from 14 universities across four countries: China, Russia, Spain, and Romania.

The Tianjin University team was guided by Professor Wang Zhe and Associate Researcher Zhang Xiao, and consisted of three undergraduate students from the School of Mechanical Engineering, Class of 2023: Yin Guangyang, Liu Hangshuo, and Fan Xixi. The team actively exchanged ideas and competed with participants from other countries, fully demonstrating the solid professional competence and vibrant spirit of Tianjin University students. In the end, the team won the first prize in the team category, thanks to their strong command of mechanical principles. Among them, Yin Guangyang stood out with exceptional performance, earning both a Special Mention Award and a third prize in the individual category. Liu Hangshuo also delivered an outstanding performance, winning the first prize in the individual category.
