The Spring Festival, also known as Chinese New Year, is the most significant traditional festival in China. It symbolizes the farewell to the old year and the welcoming of the new, brimming with hopes and aspirations. While the Lunar New Year officially begins on the first day of the first lunar month, the festive atmosphere often starts to build as early as the 12th lunar month, known in Chinese as Lá Yuè (腊月). Xiaonian (小年), or Little New Year, is the most vibrant precursor to the Spring Festival. In northern China, it is celebrated on the 23rd day of the 12th lunar month, whereas in southern China, it falls on the 24th. Traditionally, the Spring Festival celebrations last for approximately two weeks, from New Year’s Eve to the Lantern Festival.
During this special time of year, if you have experienced memorable moments, heartwarming stories, or profound reflections, we warmly invite you to share them with us.
