Civilization Blooms in Compact Dormitories

On the campus of Tianjin University, dormitories are never just places to live—they are warm hubs for youth gatherings, mutual-aid classrooms for solving problems together, and companion stations on the path of growth. Recently, Tianjin University's 2025 Civilized Dormitory Selection came to an end, with 97 student dormitories standing out and being awarded the title of "Advanced Collective of Civilized Dormitories of Tianjin University", showcasing the diverse styles and vigorous vitality of college student dormitories in the new era.

The awarded dormitories each have their own characteristics: some dorm members stay up late studying together to tackle scientific research challenges; some decorate their lives with literature, art and calligraphy to cultivate their temperament; some adhere to morning runs and evening exercises every day, forging friendship through sweat; others turn their dormitories into warm homes, supporting each other and filled with laughter... Though different in style, they all jointly show the positive, united and mutual-aid youthful demeanor of Tianjin University students.

"The four of us in the dorm often go to the library together and discuss projects late into the night—our dorm is our 'gas station' for study," said An Yaqi, a student from the dormitory rated as the "Academic Research" type Advanced Collective of Civilized Dormitories. The selection adopted a combination of online and offline methods, including on-site dormitory displays and an online voting channel, comprehensively presenting the characteristics and vitality of each dormitory.

As a pilot university for the construction of the Ministry of Education's "one-stop" student community integrated management model, Tianjin University has always strived to deepen the educational function of student communities. The Civilized Dormitory Creation Activity has been carried out for three consecutive years. This selection covers seven construction types: Pioneer Practice, Academic Research, Scholarly Atmosphere, Culture and Art, Physical Fitness, Warm and Harmonious, and Hygienic and Healthy. It multi-dimensionally displays the achievements of dormitory culture construction, promotes the cultivation of students' civilized literacy and collective awareness, and helps students temper their character in shared governance and build a civilized campus atmosphere together.
