University Leaders Welcome Students on Move-in Day

On Tianjin University’s New Student Move-in Day held on September 6, 2025, university leaders including Party Secretary Yang Xianjin and President Chai Liyuan visited the reception and orientation points across the Peiyangyuan Campus to greet new students and their families, as well as recognize the dedication of faculty and staff who facilitated the process.

The university arranged its welcome reception in front of the National Facility for Earthquake Engineering Simulation, a renowned scientific landmark. The facility houses the world’s largest seismic vibration table and a distinctive mobile underwater vibration array, placing it at the forefront of global earthquake engineering research. By choosing this site as a backdrop for student photo opportunities, the university offered newcomers both memorable experiences and an inspiring introduction to its scientific strength. At the same time, a parent rest area was set up nearby, where volunteers provided guidance and explained the facility’s significance.

Throughout the day, university leaders engaged with students and parents at multiple orientation zones, exchanging impressions and offering encouragement. Among them, freshman Chen Leqi, who traveled from Zhangzhou, Fujian, shared her thoughts, saying: “Having arrived two days early to explore campus, I was struck by Tianjin University’s serene yet vibrant atmosphere. I feel honored to start my university life during the 130th anniversary of its founding, and I am eager to cultivate myself in this earnest and rigorous environment.”

In a heartwarming gesture, various schools prepared welcome gifts for new students, including birthday celebrations with cakes and photos, creating warm memories and fostering a welcoming atmosphere from the very start.

At each reception point, university leaders took the opportunity to motivate new students, reminding them to adapt quickly to university life, cherish their time at Tianjin University, and embark on their academic journeys with enthusiasm and purpose. As the university celebrates its 130th anniversary this year, the orientation activities highlighted not only the warmth of campus traditions but also the enduring spirit of Peiyang, marking a new chapter in the university’s legacy.
