Plans for ​Centennial Celebration of School of Chemical Engineering and Technology Announced

Established in 1925, the School has been a driving force in chemical engineering education and research, growing into one of China’s leading institutions in the field. Over the past century, it has made remarkable contributions to both academia and industry, fostering innovation, training generations of professionals, and advancing research in key areas such as process engineering, catalysis, and environmental sustainability.

Over the past century, the School of Chemical Engineering and Technology at Tianjin University has garnered widespread attention and robust support from experts in the fields of chemistry and chemical engineering, partner institutions, distinguished guests from various sectors who care about and support the school’s development, as well as faculty, students, and alumni. The School of Chemical Engineering at Tianjin University extends its deepest respect and heartfelt thanks to all of you.

In celebration of this historic milestone, a series of activities and events will highlight the School of Chemical Engineering and Technology into its second century.

On July 12, 2025, the School of Chemical Engineering at Tianjin University will host a series of academic and commemorative activities at the Peiyangyuan Campus. These events are part of the Centennial Celebration of the Chemical Engineering Discipline, which marks 100 years of excellence and innovation in the field.

On the morning of July 12, a Conference of the Centennial Development of the Chemical Engineering Discipline will take place, bringing together scholars, educators, and industry leaders to reflect on the discipline’s achievements and future directions.

On the afternoon of the same day, events including a Chemical Engineering Discipline Development Forum and a Chemical Industry School-Enterprise Joint Forum will be held, providing a platform for in-depth discussions on research, education, and industrial collaboration.

The School will also organize a range of activities to celebrate its centennial journey, including:

A documentary exhibition showcasing the century-long development of Tianjin University’s chemical engineering discipline

A visit to the School’s history museum

A campus tour

Open day of laboratory

A class review session

A forum for dialogue among faculty, students, and alumni

Continuing the celebration on July 13, the School will hold an alumni homecoming event at the Alumni Home on Weijin Road Campus in the morning.

The centennial celebration of School of Chemical Engineering and Technology coincides with the 130th anniversary of Tianjin University’s founding, offering a special opportunity for alumni, faculty, and students from around the world to reunite on campus.
